Ghost Nodes

You may want to show all or a large part of a Performance Map or Visual View in a newly created view. Rather than dragging the nodes on from the Node buckets, you can simply import sections of the map or multiple nodes into your view.

To do this, go into your view and right click on the canvas. You will see in the right click menu an option to ‘Show Nodes From’ – select whether you wish to view the nodes from your Performance Map or visual view. You will see that these appear on the canvas as ghost nodes.

To import nodes into the view, you can select which nodes you wish to have imported (or use the Select All Ghost Objects option on right click), right click and select ‘Import Selected Ghost Objects’. This will import them into the map, showing them as nodes rather than ghost objects.

If, for example, you want to import a large map but with just a couple of nodes not shown, you can select the nodes that you do not wish to have in the view, right click on and chose ‘Invert Selected Ghost Objects’. This will invert the selection and from here, you can right click and ‘Import Selected Ghost Objects’.

‘Clear Ghost Objects’ will remove any ghost nodes that have not been imported onto the canvas.

If you wish to know which nodes have been imported into a view, you can right click on the canvas and click ‘Select Imported Objects’. All nodes that have been imported will be selected on the canvas.

Background Items

Highlight areas of the map and add clarity to the model with the use of background shapes and text. These can be dragged on to the canvas from the left hand side toolbar and the colour, size and shape can be customised in the same way as a regular node.

Locking Background Items

Realisor allows you to lock the backing nodes (backing shapes and text) into position on the canvas. This is done through using the ‘Lock Background’ option that in the ‘Formatting’ section of the Home tab. Use this button to turn on/off the ‘Lock Background’ functionality. Note that this locks all background items currently on the canvas and makes them un-selectable until ‘Lock Background’ has been turned off.

Adding Borders

Background items can now have borders added to them. If you select a backing item on the canvas and click the ‘Format’ tab that appears in the ribbon menu, a number of border options will appear.
Here you can customise determine whether you wish to have a visible border on a node, select the colour, width, border style and which sides of the background item you wish to have the borders on. This is particularly useful for example if you wish to show a dividing line on your Outcome Map – you can simply set the border for one edge of the background item. To remove borders, simply turn off the ‘Show’ option for the borders you no longer wish to have visible

Show Only This....

When demonstrating to stakeholders for example, you may only wish to display the links and other nodes connected to a specific node on the map or you may wish to step through a node connection sequence with them.

This can be done using the ‘Show Only …’ functionality.

Right click on the node and select ‘Show Only Related’. This will display only the nodes and links that are connected to that node. You can then click on another node see the links and nodes connected to that.
For ‘Show Only Ancestors’, this, it shows only the node you have selected and the ancestors of that node. ‘Show Only Descendants works in the same way as Show Only Ancestors. When this is selected, it shows only the node you have selected and the Descendants of that node.

You may only wish to show the connections for one particular node – this can be done by right clicking on the node and selecting ‘Show Connections For Related’. This will display only the links for that specific node. You can select a different node and this will update to show only the connections for currently selected node.
